DC WIC has joined forces with local partners to bring you free online cooking classes!

Classes are being held virtually in light of the COVID-19 public health pandemic.  

And don't forget about the YMCA’s "Simple Cooking with Heart" virtual class series!

Here you will find 8 lessons where chefs and nutritionists coach you through various cooking skills, from knife skills to braising meats. This curriculum was created by the American Heart Association. 


Each class covers a different culinary and nutrition topic, then guides you to cook your way through 2-3 recipes. The focus is placed on creating bold flavors with herbs and spices to decrease salt, fat, and sugar. 

In each class, you will find videos of the nutrition and culinary components, the recipes, skill cards for the skills learned in class, and related recipes to practice at home.

There is also a library of "How To" videos on subjects such as "how to cut a pineapple", "how to care for your cast iron pan", "how to make chicken stock", and more!
